Blood Fury is the third book of Black Dagger Legacy, which is a spin-off from the main Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward. This series follows the lives of young vampires enrolled in the Brotherhood's training program while intertwining the ongoing stories of characters from the main series because happily ever after isn't the end to a story.

Legacy and the main series alternate both in terms of timeline and release dates and should be read in order of publication. Blood Fury is preceded by The Chosen and followed by The Thief of the main series with the fourth Legacy book, Blood Truth, following that. While The Black Dagger Brotherhood can be read on its own, Black Dagger Legacy incorporates much of the main plot and is not a stand-alone series.

Synopsis[]

Brothers at the Black Dagger Brotherhood training center push recruits to the limit to become faster and stronger than ever before as they prepare for the fight against the Lessening Society. Novo, a resilient survivor who is a bit rough around the edges, has overcome a great deal—including her intense attraction to suave, aristocratic Peyton, with whom she has shared a passionate physical connection. But when Peyton finally admits his true feelings for Novo, she rejects him for a more stable male. Now they must train in close quarters and eventually confront the feelings they still undoubtedly harbor for each other.

A vampire aristocrat, Peyton is well aware of his duty to his bloodline: mate with an appropriate female of his class and carry on his family’s traditions. And he thought he’d found his perfect match—until she fell in love with someone else. Yet when his split-second decision in a battle with the enemy endangers the life of another trainee, Peyton has to face the idea that his future, and his heart, actually lie with another.

Novo, as a female in the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training program, feels like she has to prove herself to everybody—and she has no interest in being distracted by falling in love. But when Peyton proves to be so much more than a rich playboy, she is forced to confront the tragedy that has broken her soul and closed her off from love.

As the two grapple with Novo’s past and Peyton’s present, another couple must contend with a connection that is unparalleled—and potentially scandalous. Saxton, who has had his heartbroken, discovers in himself a deep-seated attraction to Ruhn, a new member of the household. But will the other male explore the connection? Or will he close his mind and his heart to what could be true love . . . and cost Saxton everything?
